Charity Water

The other day I was searching for a new recipe to make salad dressing and the website I visited had this picture on the sidebar.  I literally did a double take before I realized what it was representing.  And at first I felt repulsed and a bit offended.  But then I realized that this was truth.  There are people in the world right now living this very image out in their every day lives.

That thought brought tears to my eyes.  Can you imagine?  Having to drink from the same swamp or river or creek where animals relieve themselves, people bathe, and insects lay their larva?

We in more industrialized countries complain when the internet is too slow and yet how important is that compared to... well... that picture?

I have a saying that I am pushing myself to follow:

" Good intentions mean nothing if they are not acted upon."

We can feel bad, maybe even really sad for people in bad situations.  But many times that's as far as we go.  We say things like, " That's terrible."  " I hope things get better for them."  " I'm praying for them."

But how many of us actually do something to help?  I think, at least for me, many times I don't do something because I'm afraid whatever I do won't make any difference.  And sometimes I've felt its better to just ignore the problems of others rather than face it and get down into the suffering with them to try and help.

I'm certainly not perfect.  But by God's grace I hope I'm learning from my mistakes.  I want to do whatever I can, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem.  Because the truth is, its not insignificant.

Which brings me to the title of this post. Charity Water is a non-profit organization committed to helping the poorest nations in our world attain clean, healthy water.  Take a visit to their site and I promise you will be amazed.  There are wonderful things happening through this charity.  I will be keeping one of their banners on my blog from now on.  Please consider doing the same on yours and encouraging people to visit the site.  God bless your efforts to help anyone He brings to your attention.

" So let's not get tired of doing good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don't give up."  Galations 6:9
