Day of Prayer

If you live in the United States you know that today is a very special day.  All over our nation thousands upon thousands of Christians are gathering in public places to pray.  Today is the Day of Prayer.  What are Christians praying for?  Radical change in the hearts and minds of all, not just in America but in all the world.

What am I praying for?  The salvation of President Obama who desperately needs Jesus Christ.  The members of congress who have wicked intent.  I pray for all those in our government who are systematically stripping the American people of their freedom and human rights. Every mayor, governor, school board, military general and captain,  our police, firemen, doctors, and teachers.  I am praying for protection for those who put their lives on the line everyday in an effort to stop terrorism in all its forms.

I pray for the family.  I pray that God would preserve the family unit which Satan has been so busy tearing apart!  So many families are divorced, so many children are too busy and have parents who don't care or don't know how to say "no" to their kids.  So many couples live together and sleep together before marriage and then wonder why their marriages don't last.  I pray that God helps them find the love they are so desperately looking for.

I pray for the end of abortion.  The cruelty that is necessary in the hearts of those who perform abortions is rampant.  The depression and physical trauma of those who had abortions is growing every day because they are lied to about the consequences or are pressured to do something they really don't want to do.

I pray for our entertainment industries.  They are out of control!  I pray that Satan's hold on our music, internet, books, TV shows, movies, and technology would be broken.  I pray that the hearts and minds of the younger generations would be preserved! Save us Lord from the evil that is consuming our culture so quickly that we can see it!

Never-the-less, your word has warned us that in the last days things will get very bad.  In fact, you tell us that things will be so bad that there will be very few true Christians.  I pray that you grant those who truly love you the strength, wisdom, and power to endure whatever is to be their fate.  Whether it be temptation, persecution, or death, Lord please help your children remain faithful as the final days approach and evil rises.

And I pray that Jesus Christ returns soon!  Let evil meet its end.  Bring salvation and healing to our world!  And in all things, no matter how terrible they become, may your name be glorified.

Amen.

I Thessalonians 4:16-18  " Because the Lord Himself shall come down from Heaven with a commanding  shout of an archangel's voice, and with God's trumpet. And the dead in Christ will rise again first.  Then we who remain alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will live forever with the Lord.  So then, comfort each other with these words."

A most interesting post. I couldn't understand about the entertainment bit, That Satan holds music, the internet, and other things you mentioned,
If Satan held these things there would be no blogging would there.
I am all for prayer for the right reasons , Let's pray for world peace and all who are suffering.

Have a good prayer day.

Yvonne: Thank you for your comment. The entertainment industries have really gone over the deep end in the USA and probably the whole world as well. Of course entertainment in itself is not wrong. Neither are books, music, the internet, and so on. But the entertainment industries have been utilizing these outlets to encourage immorality and open disregard for authority figures.

Most movies and video games encourage violence in the form of revenge as the solution to opposing opinions and TV is saturated with blatant attacks on the traditional family.

Popular books such as Harry Potter and Twilight encourage rebellious and even (in the case of Twilight) suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Its a shame that wholesome entertainment is no longer the norm but I think it isn't a surprise.
