Ice Hotel

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in the cold of the Arctic? Or more specifically, just north of the Arctic Circle in the Sweden wilderness? Well someone did and decided to make a "what if" come true. The Ice Hotel is the only one of its kind. People from all over the world go to spend a few nights in its ice chambers. Apparently its quite the experience...if you don't mind being cold.

It looks very pretty. Apparently every year ice sculptures and artists go to create new patterns in the ceilings, walls, and everything in-between. The Ice Hotel never looks exactly the same from one year to the next. Some of the designs are really amazing like this ceiling design for the Ice Hotel's church.

How cool is that? No pun intended. :) And the church itself is quite lovely... almost like something out of a dream. Every bench has warm fur draped over it to keep folks warm.

People even get married here!

The Ice Hotel is open for business conference too. Here is a sky view of the whole place. It really is quite the resort!

So if you're ever near the Arctic Circle and wanted to have a unique experience go to the Ice Hotel. The front desk will greet you with snowballs. Seriously!

And if you get tired of being indoors there is always a camping site provided nearby. But if adventure is your thing then there are the options of snow mobile, ATV, dogsled, and moose safaris! There are combo ski/snowshoe tours, opportunities to try your hand at ice sculpture, and even trips to the Esrange Space Center where you can watch the Northern Lights. There is plenty to do!
