Sandy's Aftermath

I want to thank everyone who has been praying and giving words of encouragement not just to me but to anyone stuck in hurricane Sandy's path.  New Jersey and New York were hit the hardest.  But here in my little town in Pennsylvania it was not as bad as it could have been.

We did experience strong winds that bent the tallest trees in our neighborhood and that was a bit disconcerting.  We were hoping and praying that the trees had strong roots and that the rain fall would be minimal to help keep the ground strong around them.  Thankfully no trees went down in our area.

The rain was not that bad either.  Some of our streets did flood a bit as you can see in the photo below.  But a few men in our neighborhood went out to sweep away the leaves and keep the street gutters clean.

But the biggest blessing of all is that we never lost power.  Although there were a few minutes on Monday night when we were not so certain power would remain.  Everyone heard an explosion and a little-bit later police and firetrucks arrived to a house down the street.

We later learned that a transformer had exploded but thankfully nobody was harmed and things are getting back to normal.  Today people have been raking or sweeping away debris in their yards and driveways.

I do have family who live in New York City but we received word today that they are doing fine.

So much to be thankful for.  We now have plenty of bottled water and lots of food to keep for the winter storms that are sure to come in future months.  And yet I know there are so many suffering great losses right now.  Please keep the victims of hurricane Sandy in your prayers.

" This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety, He is my God, and I trust Him.  He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection."

~ Psalm 91: 2 & 4

Thank the Lord you are safe. My husband and myself saw on the news last night devastating floods in New York, and heard very sad news of deaths, but one thing stood out. It was the help that came from the national guard, the local services and the general public. How lovely to see many people pulling together to help one another in this.

Brenda: God is so good. Thank you for your prayers. There is a lot of devastation and loss but on the east coast right now but people are working to help each other as best as they can.

Delvalina: The Lord promises to watch over His children. Even if things had gotten very bad here where I live I have no doubt He would provide for all my needs. Thank you for your prayers.

Ima: Thank you.

So glad that you escaped the worse. I was impressed by how everyone came together in the face of the storm. The emergency services also performed admirably or else more lives might have been lost.

Bad things happen to good people sometimes, and all you can do is have faith and pray that your needs are met.

I am glad you are safe and well; the Lord provided because you have faith.

lgsquirrel: Thank you. Me too. Yes most people are choosing to help others and that is a very good thing.

T-Childs: This is true. Bad things do happen to good people all the time. My family and I can testify to that fact. But just as you said, when you put your faith on God it doesn't matter what your circumstances.
God protects and provides. Always.
Thank you for your prayers.
