Threads

The other day I stepped into grandmother's room and found her stitching a simple but beautiful design of pink flowers with green leaves.  She didn't need a pattern to follow because she already knew exactly what to do.

Every thread she used had a purpose and worked in tangent with the other threads around it to create colors and shapes.

It made think about how each of us are like a single thread.  We are all different colors and made of different strengths.  And sometimes we're tempted to believe that we aren't very important.  We sometimes live our daily lives thinking that no one notices the efforts we put out.  But someone does.

God is the master of all creation and is creating a tapestry unlike anything we have ever seen!  And what makes this one so unique, so beautiful, is that He is creating it by weaving individual lives together.   It reaches as far back as the beginning of time itself all the way to the future of a new heaven and new Earth.  Can you imagine how gorgeous it is?!

So many sorrows, so much suffering, but it is not without purpose.  So many lonely, so many searching, but not without hope.  God wants you and I to be a part of the miracle and to have an important part in the design.

And while the process is ongoing it can be difficult to understand how our thread fits into the grand scheme of things.  But God is faithful and true.  He promises to complete the good work He has begun.  Let's take each moment, good or bad, and choose to remember that God is working a beautiful thing through us.

" The Lord will work out His plans for my life-for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever...  "
Psalm 138:8

This makes me think of something I read once. I think it was Corrie Ten Boom who use to work on something while she was talking. She would show the back side of the tapestry and how crazy it looks through our eyes and lack of understanding. Then she would flip it over and show the beauty as God sees it. Thanks for a great post. We really do need each other!

BelovedBomber: What a fantastic example Corrie Ten Boom used! So creative.

Its just amazing to me how crazy our lives can seem and how unrelated events may seem. But God has everything under His control and ultimately all things will work for His glory. Romans 8:28 is a promise I hold on to.

I'm glad you were encouraged. Blessings to you!
