Stomach's Revenge

Sometimes I wonder how God puts up with us humans. We are selfish, arrogant, stubborn, rude, impatient, and messy. We don't always ask for his advice like we should and we often fail to trust in him when things get rough in life. So what does he see in us that is worth saving? I don't understand his love and patience and desire to save us. But I'm so thankful that he does! :)

This past week was quite a struggle for my family and I. My grandmother, 89, who lives with us came down with a terrible case of the stomach flu. She was so ill we nearly took her to the hospital. I nursed her for the better half of a whole day when her symptoms first started. Those first hours were also when she was the most contagious. So, exactly three days later I came down with the stomach flu. And let me tell ya... it was a doozy.

Although my symptoms were not as bad as hers I was completely exhausted and very close to dehydration by the end of the first day. Fever was my bed buddy for the night making it nearly impossible to sleep. The following day was filled with all manner of aches and fatigue but at least liquids were staying down. Progress!
But later that evening I was struck hard with severe gastritis. The pain was so intense that it reached my left arm during the late hours of the night.

During all this suffering I thought back on how I had caught the virus in the first place and I realized that even though I hated what I was going through, I didn't regret helping grandma. She recovered, thankfully, and was by my side in an ironic twist of fate. And I was reminded of God's love for humanity. He sent Jesus Christ to die for us and even though Jesus suffered terribly he never regretted his choice.

I'm now on the mend but I certainly hope the stomach flu takes a hike for, like, the rest of my life! * sigh*

" And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Thank you for your prayers for my mother.

I know what its like. When you are a cre giver you have to ignore your own problems and plunge on.

Hope your grandma and you have fully recovered
