Encouragement For You

Do you ever feel sometimes like no one understands you? Do you ever feel sometimes like you are all alone in the world... the only one who sees and feels life the way you do?

Perhaps in a way these feelings are true. We are all unique and so we all see and feel life a bit differently then everyone else. But sometimes there are days when it feels like no one can truly encourage me the way I need to be encouraged. Sometimes it feel like nobody cares. Deep down I know this isn't true but try telling that to my heart when it's bleeding.

I don't know what you're going through today or this week or this month but if God brought you to this post I want you to know that you are not alone. Listen, people will let us down. And if we're really honest we could all say that sometimes we let ourselves down too. We live in a broken world and suffering is a natural consequence of that.

But it doesn't mean that there isn't hope! God is very real and wishes that we would run to Him when we feel lonely and sad and scared. He is the only friend who will never betray us or criticize us or ignore us. He is present for anything we might need 24/7! He is our hiding place... the one place we can go where we can be ourselves, broken and weak, and have no fear of rejection. God takes us as we are and turns us into something beautiful. But it has been my experience that He does this, most of the time, when we're really struggling. Growing pains.

And feeling these things doesn't mean that you're crazy or somehow not saved or ugly or whatever it is you might believe of yourself in those moments. It simply means that you are human. All the stories of the Bible talk about the highs and lows of Christian living and it isn't always easy. In fact Jesus says, in the New Testament, that living by faith is hard. Its impossible to do without clinging to Him.

And feeling discouraged, fearful, or lonely doesn't just happen to young Christians, it happens to veterans too. So, if you are struggling today I want to encourage you, by God's grace, to open your Bible and ask Him to encourage you! He will hear you! Don't let anything stop you. Don't let guilt or shame from sin stop you. Don't let anger or fear that He might not care stop you. Don't leave it for later. Do it as soon as possible.

Remember the power of the cross and infinite love God gives to each of us. Push beyond the haze of your pain and reach for Him! Because even when we don't have enough strength to believe things will get better He has promised to lift us up. Believe it! It has happened for me and it will happen to you too.

Remember that as Christians we have the hope of what is yet to come! In the book of Revelations, the last book of the Bible, we read that Jesus will come again! And when He does He will fix all the problems of the world. There will be a new heaven and a new Earth and we will be with loved ones. Jesus tells us that He has gone back to heaven to prepare a place for us and that the beauty and majesty and glory awaiting us is beyond anything we can imagine!

" Why are you downcast, oh my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God." Psalm 43:5-6
