Understanding Love

The journey this month has been a deeply personal and eye-opening experience for me.  I believe that studying the Bible for the specific purpose of understanding how God loves really put His words in a new light.

It is one thing to know God loves you but it is another thing entirely to have Him prove it to you.

And if I could be transparent for a moment, this journey has been very personal because at times I still struggle with my singleness and loneliness.

God has been my anchor through the really difficult days.  He has been the shoulder I lean on during the times I need to cry.  He has been my confidant when I need to share my heart with someone.  He has been the one with whom I express my awe when I hear a gorgeous piece of music, or see a breathtaking sunset, or witness someone realize their dreams.

God.

What can I say about Him?  Quite simply, God is love.  Every form of love comes from God.  Every breath of life in every living creature was given to them from Him.

What is God's love?  I believe His love is best described in how we experience it.  God's love gives us courage, respect, hope, a future, redemption, purpose.  God's love is not biased.  It doesn't matter if we are single or married, rich or poor, successful or not.  These things don't matter because His love is not based on whether we can prove ourselves worthy.  It is based on His willingness to save us.  We need only accept and believe that by trusting in Jesus we will become who we were destined to be.

God says that He knew us even before time began.  Imagine... how deeply, how profoundly He wants us.  Imagine that all the beauty of the world we live in, of the universe we exist in, of the people we meet, ... imagine that it was all created for us to better understand His love.

He promises to be by our side not just in this world but throughout all of eternity.  There can be no greater promise. Jesus, part of the trinity and God's beloved son, chose to die for us. There can be no greater love!

May you continue to seek Him and experience the limitless depths of His love.

" The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness;
He will quiet you by His love;
He will exult over you with loud singing."
~ Zephania 3:17

I absolutely loved this post! I couldn't agree more. I especially loved this line:

"I believe that studying the Bible for the specific purpose of how God loves really puts His words in a new light."

So, so true. God talks about His love for us and how crazy amazing it is all the time, but I think we've almost become numb to it. When we start really taking Him at His word and believing and exploring His deep, deep love for us and what it means, we start to really "get" it--to get Him.

Praying for you! I know what it's like to be struggling and have only God to hang on to as your anchor--but He's enough, and more than enough! Jesus + nothing = everything. God's got this, so just keep moving forward to Him. :)

Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog! :)

God bless you and have a wonderful week! :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I will look at your ideas and will write a post asking for help about how to set up a website and get a group going here. I have no problem with ideas, I just can't write a website. Perhaps I could just start a blog first and see what happens from there? Any help I can give you I am only too happy to offer. Cheers!
