Spoken Out Loud

When I was a little girl my father would read the Bible to my little brother and I.  We always looked forward to family devotions.  My father had, and still possesses, a beautiful, deep voice.  Whenever we came to a place in the Bible where God or Jesus would speak my father would have the perfect voice.  Of course, it was a little-bit more challenging for him to do voices of women.  :)

When my father was in college he won awards for reciting poetry and even worked for a time at a radio station. Word spread about his talent and one day he was noticed by people in Hollywood who offered him a good paying job with them in California.  But my father didn't believe that was the direction God wanted him to go.  So he turned them down.  Its a good thing too because if my father had agreed than he would have never met my mother.

But I'm wandering off topic.  My father fostered in me a love for hearing the Word of God spoken out loud.  I followed his example and started reading to my brother as we grew up.  And now that I am older I find so much joy in hearing the Bible read out loud once again. Not that there is anything wrong with reading silently but to hear the Bible... it helps the Word penetrate my heart and mind.

So one day, several years ago, I was listening to the Christian radio station in my car and I heard the third chapter of Revelation being spoken out loud with an entire orchestra performing in the background.  It was gorgeous and I spent years searching for the performance.

Last year I finally found it.  The Revelation is performed by Karen Heimbuch.  The music was composed specifically for this ministry by Micheal Harriton and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.  The end result is so incredibly powerful. The music is gorgeous.  God's Word is inspiring.

You can listen to the exact radio program I heard, as well as several samples of the Revelation performance, here: Haven Today with Karen Heimbuch.

If you would like to buy a copy, the CDs and digital downloads (which are cheaper) can be found at Karen's website: karenheimbuch.com.

The following video is her testimony concerning this unique ministry.

I am so thankful God brought Karen's ministry to my attention.  I find myself listening to the chapters even when I'm doing house work.  It is a tremendous blessing to me and my family.  Please consider purchasing either a digital or physical copy of this amazing performance.  Perhaps you could give it as a gift this Christmas.  And you would be helping a ministry at the same time.  Something to think about.  :)
