Losing A Pet

My goodness, my past few posts seem to be on some pretty heavy and probably depressing topics.  So sorry about that readers! Hopefully things will calm down a little-bit in my life so I can get a breather.

This post is a farewell to a beloved family pet, who is also my Blogger Profile picture.  Angel Eyes was a beautiful Himalayan pure bred cat with a petite body, stunning blue eyes, and the most adorable little mouth.  Seriously... she was cute.

She was a gift from a woman who had to move out of town and was contemplating putting her to sleep because no one wanted her.  So my family and I adopted her.  At first she was very frightened of everyone and we quickly realized that she had suffered abuse in her previous home.  But with a lot of love and support from all of us she soon blossomed into quite the happy cat.

As the years went by she became ill with diabetes and most recently, we suspect, cancer.  The vet told us her time was near due to health complications and offered to put her to sleep.  But we just couldn't do it.  And Angel, I believe, was grateful to be at home when she passed on.
She was surrounded by loving family almost round the clock in her final days.

We will miss little Angel Eyes.  My brother buried her in our backyard.  We all bid her farewell.  My mother took her death very hard.

And then, the very same evening, a surprise.

A little lost kitten was sitting at the steps of our back porch, wailing and crying.   He is, at most, just a few weeks old.  There are many fields and farms around our neighborhood so it might have been born in any one of them.  But how he found his way to our back door we will never know.  Perhaps God gave the little guy a nudge in our direction. It was just too much of a coincidence.

Little kitten came back the next day and the next so we took him in and checked to see if anyone lost a kitten recently.  No word.  So we gave him a name, Tiger.  He is the sweetest, most gentle kitty.  We love him already.

Lord,  you knew our hearts were sad
and you gave us a reason to smile again.
Thank you for the precious gift.

Hello Sincerity,
Thank you for visiting us and following Red Rose Alley. You sound very much like my daughter, Nel, who is also a friend, sister, daughter, writer, and working on her PhD. I have browsed through some of your posts, and you write well. I am so sorry about your beloved cat. Pets are so very special, and become part of our family. It's so nice to meet new friends, and I'm glad you stopped by.

I'm so sorry about your little cat. She was adorable.

But at how neat that a kitten found your home when it did!

I am sorry for the loss of your beloved Angel Eyes; what a sweet cat and how kind of you/family to take her in under those circumstances and then to deal with her diabets (our corgi has diabetes so we understand what is involved with that). I am sure she will always be missed. I truly believe God did send Tiger to be part of your family; I do not believe in coincidences, just like I know God sent a cat to distract a dog that was attacking Koda (our corgi) one day when I was walking him a few years ago. May you all enjoy Tiger and may Angel Eyes always have a special place in your hearts

Oh how sad, we know what it is like to lose a pet. I would say that the little kitten knew exactly where to come, where he would get lots of love and care. We were in Australia once and, as hard as this is to believe, a cat actually scratched on the door. When we opened the door, she walked in. She was heavily pregnant, and had her kittens in a box that my husband rushed to get. Sadly they all died, she had a terrible infection. We were able to take her to the vet to be treated and, as we were shortly returning to the UK, found her a good home with a Russian lady who took in strays, looking after them extremely well. I believe absolutely that God directs animals to where they should be in lots of cases.

Lizzy: Thank you. She really was. :) I'm thankful God brought her into our family for the time she was alive.

Yes, Tiger is adjusting well and getting lots of love.

That corgi: Thank you. Yes, diabetes is a difficult issue. I'm so glad Koda was spared a terrible fate when that cat distracted the violent dog. And good too it didn't attack you!
That was definitely God at work. :)

Brenda Reese: What an amazing story! So sad that all the kittens died but that momma cat was being the best mom she could under the circumstances.

How neat too that you and your husband were able to find a good home for her. Thank you for sharing that story. :)

Ella: Your welcome. It certainly is wonderful how well we are all taken care of by our Heavenly Father.

So sorry for this. My sister once had a dog. We all loved the beast. When the animal under a car came, we all cried. It is sad to lose a pet.

So sorry for your loss. We are dealing with a decision for one of our dogs and it won't be easy.

Precious how you found a baby at your door afterward. It helps fill the gap just a little.

T-Childs: Yes it is sad but God is good to bring joy out of sadness.

Denise: Thank you.

Parsley: Those choices are so difficult. I'm sorry your dog is so ill. But he/she knows you are doing all you can to help.

God's timing is perfect for everything in our lives. He never lets us down!
