Spock is a Poet!

This is a picture I entitled, " Her House Of Ruby Glass." I was inspired to create an image of my impressions from a poem written by Leonard Nimoy. Leonard Nimoy is not well-known as a poet but he is famous for his role as Spock on the original Star Trek. The poem is part of a collection he wrote to his wife. They are introspective and very honest. But most of all they are a clear representation of his love. Personally I think they're beautiful!

The following is the segment of Nimoy's poem entitled, " You and I," that inspired the artwork above.

High, high up on a hill
In a house of ruby glass
Living in the warmth
Of the sun

Lives the love I look for

In a ruby glass house
Without a door
Burning, reflecting
From the eye of my desire

At times
I hold my breath
Did I hear a sound?
Was there a signal?

I must be patient

Morning comes
When night is done

Burn all your candles
Light all your lamps
Between sunset and dawn
It is still night

Today
Time has stopped

A minute is still a minute
An hour is still an hour

And yet

The past and the future
Hang in perfect balance
All focused on the present

A sweet flow of excitement
Warms me

You are near

You are here

But you seem unsure

Are you ready?
Do you know me?

You seem unsure...

Do I offer too little
Or is it too much?

You seem unsure

Am I too late
Or is it too soon?...

*sigh* It must be wonderful to be married to the right person. Maybe one day this lonely single will know what that feels like. But until then... I can take joy in the love shared by others and the promises of God. :)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~ Jeremiah 29:11

That is a beautiful poem. And so too was your picture. It looks good enough to be the front cover illustration of a fantasy/ sci-fi novel.

As for love, it takes many forms but when we actively give love out to others in whatever context, then it comes back to us many fold.

Mr. LGS: Yes! It is very beautiful. Thank you for the compliment! And thanks too for the nuts of wisdom. :)
